The Los Angeles Lakers won their fifth game in a row with a 136-124 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Anthony Davis was out for this game after playing over 50 minutes last night in a win over the Bucks, but LeBron James performed admirably, prompting excited fans to praise him and the team on social media.

Fans were impressed with Rui Hachimura’s performance, as the star reminded fans of his ‘instant-offense’ ability.

Never doubt Rui Hachimura's ability to rack up buckets

— Edwin Garcia (@ECreates88) March 28, 2024

Fans aren’t happy with how long it has taken Rui this season to emerge as a featured piece on the roster.

Rui Hachimura is too valuable of a weapon to have been limited as much as he was this season.

It’s criminal what that cost the season.

Fans were criticizing the bad parts of Darvin Ham’s coaching, including letting their near 30-point lead evaporate in minutes after checking LeBron James out.

lebron sat for 2 minutes and this game went from 28 to 10

maybe play rui or bron darvin ??

shit is ridiculous

— Coach Rome (@Rome_Beast) March 28, 2024

Fans discussed the importance of D’Angelo Russell hitting three-point shots.

D’lo is the only player in the history of the game whose threes actually count for 8-10 pts depending on game inflection point

— 🏆LakersGuru🏆 (@GuruLakers) March 28, 2024

Even though the Lakers won tonight, fans were seriously confused why the team never went for an elite backup center for games like tonight where Davis doesn’t end up playing.

The Lakers decision to not improve the backup center spot is insane.

— Ry (@JustRyCole) March 28, 2024

Overall, fans were appreciative of LeBron and how his complete performance made this win easy for LA.

i appreciate lebron james so much

The Lakers were led in scoring by Rui Hachimura’s 32 points and 10 rebounds, while LeBron James put up a triple-double with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists. D’Angelo Russell also put up 23 points, playing almost 80 minutes over the last 24 hours in this back-to-back.

The Grizzlies were led by Desmond Bane scoring 26 points and dishing 10 assists, as Jake LaRavia made a statement off the bench with 25 points. Jaren Jackson Jr. had just 17 points and nine rebounds, continuing to struggle against the Lakers even without a premier big man on the floor.

The Lakers Could Still Climb Up To The No. 6 Seed

It isn’t set in stone that the Lakers will have to go through the 9-10 Play-In matchup to hopefully find a spot in the playoffs. The team has been the No. 9 seed for a few months now, but they are keeping up with the winning pace of the team ahead of them. They’re 1.5 games behind the No. 8 seed Phoenix Suns and  2.5 games behind the No. 6 seed Dallas Mavericks.

If the Lakers keep winning and the teams around them drop even a single game, they start putting themselves in pole position to move forward. The Suns in particular have only tough matchups remaining in the regular season. If the Lakers can outpace them, they likely relegate Phoenix to the ninth seed and take the eighth seed for the easier play-in route.

The odds of the Lakers outpacing Phoenix, Dallas, and Sacramento in wins is far-fetched, but the No. 8 seed should be the bare minimum for the Lakers. They’re within striking distance of taking it from the Suns and will be closely watching their game against Denver tonight.
