LeBron James is cementing himself as one of the greatest athletes of all time. His longevity in basketball is unparalleled, as we’ve quite literally never seen a 39-year-old of his caliber in the sport. He showed that with a vicious poster dunk on Paul George in the Lakers win over the Clippers.

A fan put together a compilation of James slamming a poster down on all 30 franchises in the NBA, including the three that he’s played for.

The greatest dunk on that reel is undoubtedly James’ dunk on Jason Terry during his days with the Boston Celtics. The ferocity of the dunk is unmatched and may just be one of the greatest posters of all time. Terry lay flat on the ground after being jammed by James, further adding to the shock value of that explosive moment from 2013.

The best poster dunk of this generation unfortunately might not be one that Bron claims. DeAndre Jordan’s explosion on Brandon Knight of the Detroit Pistons likely takes the cake, but that dunk on Terry is up there.

LeBron James Never Participated In A Slam Dunk Contest

Everyone has known of James’ incredible caliber as a dunker for years. When you’re as nimble and agile at James’ size, it’s hard to not be one of the best dunkers the game has ever seen. James will likely never be remembered as the greatest dunker in NBA history because all the other greats like Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins not only participated in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest but also won it.

James has previously explained why he never participated in a dunk contest.

“I don’t think it was something I wanted to accomplish in my career; it’s not a goal of mine, and it never was coming into the NBA to be a part of the Dunk Contest, you know? Making the NBA All-Star Team was, being the league MVP, winning Defensive Player of the Year, and winning NBA Championships…? Those were some goals of mine. The NBA Dunk Contest was never a goal of mine so, it wasn’t something that I had too much passion for.”

The lack of stakes in the Dunk Contest has been a problem throughout the modern era, as the best dunkers would rather sit out the contest instead of possibly compete and lose. James is often blamed as the reason that Ja Morant and Zion Williamson, two of the best dunkers of the modern era, will never participate in the contest.

The reigning Dunk Contest champion is a G League player in Mac McClung, showing how far the contest has fallen. The best NBA dunkers would rather not participate and it’s hurt the value of the contest. Fans have previously suggested a million-dollar reward for the winner, but the NBA is unlikely to implement something like that.

Given how James got up on George in the Clippers game, it’s clear he can still dunk with the best of them. While a dunk contest appearance likely won’t manifest, LeBron will continue showing off his skills in NBA games until the end of his career.
