The Los Angeles Lakers played one of their best games of the season tonight, albeit against one of the weakest teams in the NBA. The Pistons hosted the Lakers tonight and lost by 26 points, with the final score being 133-107. Fans were impressed with the win but recognized it was against Detroit.

One fan was happy about their response to a 44-point loss blowing out a team they should be beating.

Looks like Lakers responding the best way possible. Kudos

Fans joked about how good they look on the first leg of a back-to-back.

This win was a source of bother for Lakers fans still dealing with the loss to the 76ers.

Soooo 76ers played playoff ball against the Lakers but letting the Pelicans beat on them….

Teams act different against us & every player will comeback from injury just to play the Lakers 😂

D’Angelo Russell was heavily praised by fans and even Skip Bayless, who wants Russell to be more consistent.

D'Angelo Russell has this in common with Anthony Davis: Just when you're ready to say, "I've had it with him," DLo goes for 35 on 13 of 17 … albeit at 2-16 Detroit. But DLo is CAPABLE of the occasional All-Star night, even in playoff games. Lotta guys just aren't.

More Laker fans expressed a desire to see Russell be as dependable against good teams as he was against the Pistons.

Fans are worried about Anthony Davis, who faces the Thunder tomorrow on the second night of a back-to-back.

Many Laker fans told their fanbase to not get overly excited because beating the Pistons is something almost every team in the NBA can do.

Lakers fans turn off that game and just be happy we got the W in the bag we ain’t learning nothing about this team from whooping on the Pistons

As mentioned, the Lakers were led to this win by D’Angelo Russell dropping 35 points and nine assists. Anthony Davis had 26 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks in a wonderful performance after a few recent struggles. LeBron James walked to an effortless 25-point night, with eight rebounds and four assists to go along with it.

The Pistons are among the worst rosters in the NBA, led by Cade Cunningham who scored 15 points and was the team’s scoring leader on the night. Isaiah Livers, Ausar Thompson, and Isaiah Stewart also crossed double-digits, but the Pistons stood no chance in this game. This was their 15th consecutive loss of the season, relegating them to a 2-16 record.

The Lakers Were Supposed To Dominate

It’s impressive to see how the Lakers asserted control over the game in the first quarter, closing the door on the Pistons from the start. More often than not, the Lakers tend to start trailing early in the game and spend most of the game chasing a result instead of controlling it. With the Pistons being the worst team in the NBA, the Lakers had to make sure they dominated them, or else people would have questions over their status as contenders.

You can only beat the teams in front of you, and this win sends the Lakers to an 11-8 record. As long as they can remain above .500 and keep increasing that gap, the Lakers could be a bonafide top-six team in the West. Currently, they’re the seventh seed in the West but only half a game behind the No. 6 seeds, the Sacramento Kings.

This game wasn’t the proving ground for the Lakers, but many people did entertain the idea of the Lakers being the team that ends the Pistons losing streak. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case as the Lakers used their depth and top-end stars to put the Pistons away. With how D’Lo played, it may be exciting for a team like the Bulls that could acquire Russell if the Lakers make a trade with the franchise.
