Terance Mann was drafted with the 48th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, becoming one of the good draft finds from the Clippers in recent seasons. Mann’s rookie season saw the COVID-19 pandemic hit, so he had to finish out the season as the sole rookie on a veteran-led Clippers roster. His duties as a rookie in the bubble weren’t easy, as he told Theo Pinson.
“I was doing everything for everybody. My phone was on loud. I was walking miles to go get people’s food, making sure breakfast was at people’s door at 8 a.m. I was slaving. Straight slaving… Lou Will, Pat Bev, and them dudes really molded me. Shout out to them. My other rookie partner, he was hurt, so I was the only rookie in the bubble.”

Mann paid his dues and is still a rising star on the Clippers. While he hasn’t been able to solidify himself as the team’s starting point guard, he’s gotten a chance to learn under the likes of Lou Williams, Rajon Rondo, John Wall, and Russell Westbrook in recent seasons. He averaged 8.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists last season.
The other rookie on the 2019/20 Clippers squad was point guard Jaylen Hands, who never played for the team.
Terance Mann Thinks The Lakers Are Favoured Over The Clippers In The Crypto.com Arena
Terance Mann discussed with Paul George that the Clippers always feel unwelcome in the Crypto.com arena compared to the Lakers, given the differing cultural impact of the two franchises.
“The workers are all Laker fans. They’ll be like, ‘This way, man.’ The different lighting in the home games. Sometimes I walk in the same place and I can feel that they’re a Laker fan. They take that sh*t way too seriously. You can feel it, it’s crazy.”
Thankfully, the Clippers will be moving into a new arena next season. The ‘Intuit Dome’ will finally end the Clippers’ reign of sharing the same arena as the Lakers and be treated like the ‘little brothers’.
Given this is their last season at Crypto, it’ll be a motivating factor to end it by outperforming the Lakers in their own arena one last time.
Will The Clippers Trade Terance Mann For James Harden?
One of the biggest rumors around the Clippers all summer has been their rumored interest in James Harden. While it’s sometimes reported that the level of interest the Clippers have had in Harden has been overstated, they did send a pretty strong reported package to Philadelphia for the star which featured expiring contracts and future picks.
They have reportedly been unwilling to offer multiple picks or Terance Mann in the deal. It’s clear that the Clippers believe in the value Mann can offer as a longtime member of the roster, entering his fourth season.
With Bones Hyland also competing for guard minutes, the Clippers have enough depth in the position behind Russell Westbrook, so keeping Mann in a trade for Harden would oversaturate the guard position for the Clippers.
It’s clear that the Clippers need an elite point guard to get the maximum out of their squad. But moving on from multiple assets and Mann’s upside for possibly just one season of Harden wouldn’t be prudent.
The Clippers can give more time to the Westbrook experiment as the starting point guard and then reassess if their guard trio of Russ, Mann, and Bones is getting the job done or not.
