  • Lauren Holiday had some words about her husband, Jrue, getting traded to the Celtics
  • Holiday admitted that Milwaukee was home for their family
  • Jrue Holiday could be an X-factor for the Celtics

This summer, the Milwaukee Bucks executed a trade for superstar Damian Lillard. Guard Jrue Holiday was the main trade chip in that scenario, and the Portland Trail Blazers eventually re-routed him to the Boston Celtics.

Even though Jrue Holiday is in a good situation now with the Celtics, a player getting traded can hurt due to the non-basketball aspect of getting moved. Holiday’s wife Lauren recently shared an emotional message about getting moved, noting that Milwaukee became home for the family.

“Our daughter started 1st grade a month ago. Our son started preschool. Our kids go to school with other Bucks children. Their dads walk them in and walk out together. The other women on the Bucks have been my workout partners, my confidants, and my support system. We have had Bible studies, and retreats and shared so many laughs and tears. Not to mention the relationships we have built through our church, our community, and our JLH grantees. All of this is personal to us. It’s our life. There’s no business to any of that. Milwaukee was home.”

It is true that basketball is a business, and most players are tradeable for the right amount. However, that doesn’t make things hurt any less for the players and their families, who often have to figure out how to continue their lives in a brand-new city.

Hopefully, we see Jrue Holiday thrive with the Boston Celtics. He will likely be in a facilitating role, being the No. 4 option behind Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis. Last season, Holiday put up 19.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game, and he could have another solid year with the Celtics.

Jrue Holiday Could Be The Solution For The Boston Celtics

Jrue Holiday is a player that makes a lot of sense for the Celtics, and Holiday is a player that can fix the Celtics’ biggest issues. He gives the team championship experience, defense, playmaking, and 3PT shooting, and Holiday’s skill set makes him the perfect complementary player for ball-dominant stars.

The Boston Celtics arguably have the best roster in the league following the Jrue Holiday trade in terms of all-around talent. However, having a lot of talent on a team’s roster doesn’t always guarantee success, and the team will have to really work at building chemistry with one another to win at a high level.

The Boston Celtics And The Milwaukee Bucks Seem Likely To Meet In The Eastern Conference Finals

As of right now, most people agree that the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks are the best teams in the Eastern Conference after this summer of blockbuster trades. Many fans expect the two teams to meet in the East Finals, and that series will likely be very close.

Jrue Holiday will be tasked with slowing down Damian Lillard in that potential matchup, and it certainly won’t be easy. Holiday was notably part of the 2018 Pelicans team that swept Lillard’s Trail Blazers, so he has some experience there.

Ultimately, Jrue Holiday was brought into the Boston Celtics to provide stability and a veteran presence. Hopefully, he can help the young Celtics get to the next level, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
