  • Kyrie Irving has been at the center of various controversies in recent years
  • Irving has received a fair bit of backlash thanks to it
  • Irving says he does not care about any of it

Kyrie Irving is a man with very strong beliefs, and he isn’t one to back down from them, no matter how controversial they might be. It has led to Irving getting a ton of backlash in recent years, but he took to Snapchat recently to make it clear he does not care about what the outside world thinks of him.

“It doesn’t matter what people say about me as a person or hooper, because I know who I am. The world became my canvas when I started to love all parts of me. I give all the glory to GOD and my ancestors. I am nothing without them.”

Perhaps he doesn’t care about it to an extent, but really, we have seen Irving fire back at some of his critics.

Not too long back, Kyrie stated he owed two critics on Twitter a 1-on-1 for talking negatively about his craft and career. He stated it isn’t personal, but he wanted to make an example out of them.

Irving also hit back at critics who pointed out his lack of success since leaving LeBron James, so it does matter at least a little bit what people say about him.

Kyrie Irving Shared An Inspirational Message About Chasing Freedom

Kyrie has built up quite an incredible following thanks to his controversial views and has become quite a polarizing figure. He tends to stir things up often, but there are times when he does put out things that are quite profound.

Recently, Irving shared an inspirational message about not chasing money, dreams, and fantasies over freedom. It is an interesting way of looking at life, and it certainly seems to be the way that Kyrie goes about doing things.

Also, Kyrie had an important message for youngsters to take care of their mental health. He pleaded with them to not suffer in silence.

Kyrie Irving And The Mavericks Have A Lot Of Doubters

Whether he cares about the doubters or not, Irving and the Dallas Mavericks have a lot of them.

Charles Barkley feels the Luka Doncic-Kyrie Irving pairing won’t work, and he was surprised the Mavericks gave the 31-year-old a three-year, $126 million deal.

Meanwhile, Lakers legend Byron Scott believes the Doncic and Irving-led Mavericks won’t be a threat in the West, as he has doubts about how well the two stars fit together.

The Mavericks crumbled last season after they acquired Irving, as they missed even the play-in tournament with a 38-44 record. It wasn’t because the eight-time All-Star didn’t play well, as Kyrie did average 27.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game in 20 games for them.

The deficiencies on the defensive end for Kyrie and Luka combined with some of their struggles on offense in critical moments led to their downfall. For their sake, with a proper pre-season under their belt, things would turn out to be better in 2023-24.
