- Kyrie Irving didn’t take too kindly to the scathing criticism
- Since leaving LeBron James, Irving has played for three different teams
- The eight-time All-Star will suit up alongside Luka Doncic for the Dallas Mavericks in the 2023-24 season
Kyrie Irving had an ominous warning to the critics who earlier spoke about his lack of success in the league since leaving LeBron James.
Taking to Twitter, Irving responded to the post that charted his timeline since his departure from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“Pin this tweet and see what happens in the next few years.”

There’s no doubt that Irving would have been stung by the criticism that came his way, and surely will fuel his desire all the more to win another NBA championship.
The vocal player that he is, Irving is no doubt one of the greatest players in the modern-day era. An NBA champion, and an eight-time All-Star, the Dallas Mavericks star has shared the court with some of the biggest superstars in the game.
The timeline accounts for the injuries, which makes the claim a bit too harsh. Since his Cavaliers exit, the 31-year-old was injured thrice in the last six times the teams he played for made the playoffs, and accounting for the Mavericks failing to make the postseason makes no sense since he only played 20 games for them.
The numbers show that he has not dwindled as a player without James. While he averaged 21.6 points and 5.5 assists with the Cavaliers, he upped the ante and averaged 25.8 points and 5.9 assists in his last six seasons. This past season, in his handful of games with Dallas, he notched up 27.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists.
Kyrie Irving Will Now Gear Up To Win An NBA Championship Alongside Luka Doncic
Last season, defense and depth were the Mavericks’ bane and now they have a summer that they have spent addressing the issues. Their moves so far have made it abundantly clear that they are building a roster around Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.
In the 2022-23 NBA season, the Mavericks were 5-11 when both Irving and Doncic played together, and that could always be attributed to the early days. The offseason gives them ample time to work on their chemistry together and do better than their 38-44 record that saw them even miss the play-in this past season.
Irving’s championship window will start closing the minute the 2023-24 season gets underway, and he will want to make the most of it, with the latest post surely firing him up. Should he keep up his consistency, the league will have to watch out.
