β€’ Anthony Edwards finally broke out as a star in the NBA last season

β€’ Edwards is being touted for possible MVP success in the next season, as fans debated on whether he can win the award

β€’ Edwards is currently representing Team USA and is expected to be their No. 1 option

Anthony Edwards went from being an inefficient shot chucker in his rookie season to one of the brightest rising stars in the NBA in just a few seasons. Edwards led the Wolves in the playoffs and is currently the primary option for Team USA at the FIBA World Cup.

Fans think Edwards is in line to push for MVP next season, debating his chances of winning the award.

Another fan thinks Karl-Anthony Towns needs to be traded away from the Wolves for Edwards’ growth.

Yes, especially once KAT is gone mid season

Another fan said Ant’s mentality needs more sharpening, but the talent is there.

I don’t know if he’s there yet. I’ve seen too many quarters where he seems disengaged in his scoring game. He just needs to work on his mental,, everything else is gravy. πŸ’―

Edwards averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists last season. He took a step forward in the playoffs, leading the Wolves to take a win off the eventual champions, Denver Nuggets. The team isn’t elite, but Edwards can take them a long way forward.

Karl-Anthony Towns Future In Danger

The emergence of Edwards, along with the failures of the Wolves’ front office means that the franchise center is in danger. The Wolves went all-in with their assets on acquiring Rudy Gobert, a deal that is aging like milk given Gobert’s age and on-court decline. Gobert’s salary also hamstrings the team from making future moves.

With Gobert being impossible to move, the only way the Wolves can get assets to build around Edwards is by trading away KAT. The Dominican big man averaged 20.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists last season but played in only 29 games due to injury.

Edwards led them to the playoffs and proved he doesn’t need KAT to be successful. Moving KAT for a bonafide point guard or a wing that can play alongside Jaden McDaniels may be where the Wolves are headed.
