  • James Harden and Chris Paul have both accused Daryl Morey of being a liar
  • Carmelo Anthony was waived by the Chicago Bulls in 2019 after the Rockets traded him away
  • Daryl Morey told Carmelo Anthony things weren’t going to work out with him but told the media they were evaluating all the options

Daryl Morey is in some serious hot water after James Harden publicly called him out for being a liar amid recent disputes between him and the Sixers. Chris Paul has called him out in the past too, and now the difference better his account of how he handled Carmelo Anthony‘s Houston exit and what he told Carmelo has been highlighted.

“I was getting ready for the game in San Antonio in my room,” Carmelo Anthony said. “He came in my room and said, ‘Look, basically your services are no longer needed.’ He said, ‘Nah, you know, things are just not working out. And you gotta figure out something to do… You not gonna suit up tomorrow.’

“Meanwhile, Morey told the media before that game, ‘We’re evaluating everything. The same as every other player on the roster. I would expect Carmelo to play if he’s healthy.’”

It’s evident that Daryl Morey was lying about Carmelo Anthony’s situation with the team, and that became evident after he was traded to the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls waived Melo, meaning that Daryl Morey essentially ended up cutting Anthony the night before he was getting ready to play a game.

And it wasn’t about him not being good in the rotation either. Carmelo Anthony went on to play 196 NBA games over the next three seasons.

Chris Paul Called Daryl Morey Out For Lying

Chris Paul was another player during Daryl Morey’s tenure with the Houston Rockets that had a problem with him after. Paul accused Morey of lying to him about being traded before he was dealt to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019.

“My initial reaction?” Paul said with a laugh. “I was shocked. Truth be told, I just talked to Daryl a couple days before the trade and he said he wasn’t going to trade me [to Oklahoma City]. That’s funny because that is going to be the alert that pops up on everybody’s phone because nobody knows that. But what the hell, I just said it.”

Daryl Morey’s reputation has been severely damaged in recent times after all these things have come to light. The Sixers GM has to figure out a trade for James Harden quickly before his career gets damaged beyond repair.
