• Dwyane Wade’s basketball legacy is officially set in stone after he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame

• Various former teammates attended the ceremony, including the recently retired Udonis Haslem

• Haslem embrace Wade after his induction and revealed he cried during his speech

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame welcomed a whole new cast of inductees over the weekend, as the 2023 Class got their names immortalized.

The final speech of the night came from Dwyane Wade, who brought a tear to the eye of his longtime Heat teammate Udonis Haslem during his speech. The pair embraced each other after the ceremony.

“I definitely shed a tear on the side, I don’t know if you saw me.”

Some of the notable inductees in the 2023 Class were Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Pau Gasol, Becky Hammon, and Gregg Popovich.

Wade and Haslem were teammates for 15 seasons, with both starting their Heat careers in 2003. Wade would leave Miami for his hometown Chicago Bulls in 2015-16, ending their partnership at 13 seasons. However, Wade would come back to Miami for the 17-18 and 18-19 seasons, with the latter being his final year in the NBA.

The Two Most Beloved Heat Players Ever

Wade and Haslem may take the cake for the most beloved Heat players ever. Jimmy Butler is making a run at that title as well, but his lack of championship success so far means we need to see how this plays out.

LeBron James may be the best player to put on a Heat jersey, but he can’t be considered a greater Heat player than Wade. Pat Riley said the same thing as well, which isn’t a shot at LeBron. Similarly, James likely won’t be as beloved in Miami as Haslem is. That’s a testament to the love Miami has for Wade and Haslem and not disdain for LeBron, who spent just four seasons with the team.

Wade and Haslem won three titles together in 2006, 2012, and 2013. Wade averaged 23.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game in their 15 seasons together, while Haslem averaged 7.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
