Ice Cube’s BIG3 league has taken big strides since it was founded back in 2017. The 3-on-3 basketball league has grown in popularity over the years, with some former NBA stars like Joe Johnson and Amar’e Stoudemire having taken part in it.

Following a successful weekend for the league in Boston recently, Cube sat down for an interview with The Boston Globe, where he spoke about the players he would like to see in his league.

“I’d love Boogie Cousins, Dwight Howard, Isaiah Thomas, Jamal Crawford, these are people that I would love to see in the league,” Cube said. “We’ll see if they’ll play. LaMarcus Aldridge is out there but you’ve got to be ready to play.”

LaMarcus Aldridge and Jamal Crawford could potentially suit up, with both having retired in recent years. DeMarcus Cousins, Dwight Howard, and Isaiah Thomas, however, still hold aspirations of playing in the NBA.

Cousins is currently playing in Puerto Rico while Howard last played in Taiwan. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year wants to return to the Los Angeles Lakers but there has been no indication yet that they’d be interested in a reunion. Isaiah Thomas, meanwhile, recently held a workout with multiple NBA teams but remains unsigned.

If these three can’t make it back to the league for a while longer, then they might consider heading to the BIG3.

The BIG3 Is Going Global

Cube has big aspirations for his 12-team league and is determined to continue its growth. The latest step in that has been the decision to go global, with the 2023 BIG3 Championship game and the All-Star game being held in London.

These will be held on August 26th at the O2 Arena. Cube also didn’t rule out the prospect of having a London-based team and it would be some accomplishment if they can actually get that done.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
