Charles Barkley confirmed that he indeed used Vaseline on his belly button during his playing days, and he had his reasons for it.
In one of the YouTube shorts, the former NBA star revealed he used Vaseline on his belly button to keep his lips from drying out. It is a bit gross if you ask us, but the man knew he had his reasons.
“I did, he says in the video when asked if he kept Vaseline. “I want to make sure my lips are always not cracky white.”
Earlier, it was one of his best friends, Karl Malone, who revealed the news during the 2013 All-Star Weekend. It surely had the world in splits, when Barkley’s secret was out in the open, but then we wonder how lips get chapped while playing.
Not to mention, how all the sweat and the jersey would have some of it on them. We’ll leave the rest to the reader’s imagination.
Trust Charles Barkley To Have A Hilarious Response To His Vaseline Story
For all the memes that went down, Charles Barkley had a hilarious take on the whole story. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s show, he explained:
“The brothers will understand. There’s nothing worse than a black man with big crusty lips. There’s nothing worse than that. So I couldn’t carry a Chapstick with me during the game so I would pack my navel with Vaseline…and I didn’t tell anyone, but Karl Malone said, ‘Man what are you doing?’ I said, ‘Man, I’m getting some Vaseline out of my navel.’”
It’s an effective way, sure. And maybe since Vaseline know this, they might as well use him for their future advertisements. Because this is surely one way to endorse a product.
