Ja Morant Blames Heavy Drinking For His Behavior During IG Live Stream, Says The Events Of That Night Are Still ‘Fuzzy’

Ja Morant's drinking problem may be to blame for poor decision making.

A 25-game suspension has been handed down to Ja Morant in the aftermath of his second gun-related Instagram scandal. While many fans and experts were expecting a much more significant penalty for the young point guard, missing that many games is no joke for a multi-million-dollar athlete.

Looking back on the incident itself, it was only for a second that Morant was in-frame with the weapon but it was still a foolish move considering how much was at stake. Ultimately, we will never know what led up to that moment for Morant, but he admitted to Adam Silver that alcohol played a very large role.

“They heard him blame the poor decision-making inside that Glendale, Colo., strip club on the heavy drinking, recalling how the events of that night were all so fuzzy because of the booze that was flowing so freely. They believed him when he shared a message that was both humble and contrite.”

Ja Morant reportedly blamed "heavy drinking" for his bad decisions in Colorado during a meeting with Adam Silver, Joe Dumars, and Tamika Tremaglio, per @sam_amick

It seems that Ja has a bit of a drinking problem, and it makes a lot of sense when you think about some of the things he’s said and done over the past few years. From the gun incident to the story about beating up a 17-year-old teenager, all of these things can be explained by alcohol abuse in some way.

Hopefully, during his 25-game suspension, Ja gets the help he needs or, at the very least, learns how to make better decisions during his free time.

What’s Next For Morant And The Grizzlies?

It’s likely that Morant left over $50 million on the table through these antics, and if that doesn’t make him stop then maybe nothing will. Over these next few weeks and months, it’ll be important for Morant to stay out of trouble, but also for him to get his mind right and return to being the leader we saw him be early in his career.

For now, all we can do is wait and see how Ja responds to his suspension. Will it make a difference, or will he keep doing questionable things behind closed doors? Only time will tell, but the key to success for Ja now is to stay sober and stay off social media until things start to cool off.
