Scoot Henderson Rated Higher Than Brandon Miller After Hornets Draft Workout

Scoot Henderson was 'way better' than Brandon Miller in early pre-draft workouts.

There is no doubt that Victor Wembanyama will be the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Anything after that, however, is still up for grabs as the big day draws near. As owners of the second pick this year, it’s going to be interesting to see who the Hornets decide to pick between Brandon Miller and Scoot Henderson.

At first, experts assumed the Hornets would pick up Miller because he’s a better fit with LaMelo Ball, but now it seems like nobody is sure. According to the latest report by Draft Express, Henderson left a much better impression with the Hornets than Miller did after pre-draft workouts this week.

“Both Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller worked out this week in Charlotte. Scoot Henderson definitely was the better of the two I’m told.”

Henderson is an intriguing prospect, to say the least. In 19 games played for the G League Ignite, he averaged 16.5 points, 6.8 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game on 42.9% shooting. As an explosive and high-energy competitor, Scoot has drawn comparisons to Derrick Rose, Ja Morant, and Russell Westbrook among others.

At this point, it’s looking more and more likely that the Hornets will just draft Henderson with their pick and let everything else come after, but they could also go another route if they want. With Webanyama off the table, teams across the league are calling for Scoot, and he may turn out to be available for the right price.

New Orleans Pelicans Are Making A Run For Henderson

Among the teams interesting in moving up for Scoot is the Pelicans, who may be willing to give up Zion Williamson to pull off a trade.

“I heard this week from one well-placed observer who is convinced that the Pelicans would indeed consider dealing Williamson away if it meant they could draft Henderson, pointing to a rising level of exasperation within the organization regarding Williamson’s ongoing availability issues and overall approach,” reported Marc Stein. “My read, at this juncture, is that the Pelicans are less inclined to consider trading Brandon Ingram in the same scenario.”

Obviously, nobody knows for sure how good Henderson will be in the NBA, but you have to think he’s got to be pretty good if teams are willing to give up so much to get him.

As for Brandon Miller, he’s not going to go lower than three or four in the draft, but it’s still possible the Hornets pick him up if they want to draft for fit, over talent.
