The Denver Nuggets just won their first NBA Championship in franchise history with a dominant 4-1 series win over the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.
Nikola Jokic may have been crowned the Finals MVP, but the Nuggets couldn’t have made this happen without Jamal Murray. Murray thanked the Nuggets owner for sticking by him after he tore his ACL and waiting for him to be back on the court instead of trading him away.
“I appreciate you staying patient with me. Y’all could have gone a different route, I appreciate you staying with me, man, we got it done.”

Jamal Murray averaged 26.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 7.1 assists over the course of this playoff run, hitting big shots repeatedly and ensuring the Nuggets had more than one scoring option on the court.
Michael Malone had revealed earlier that the Nuggets could have traded Murray away but chose not to, and that decision has paid off in spades now.
Is Jamal Murray One Of The Most Underrated Point Guards In The NBA?
Jamal Murray went out of his way this season to prove that he is incredibly important to the Nuggets’ success. His on-court play may have faltered throughout the season, but he stayed locked in for the playoffs and had some dominant games. He may not have the 82-game consistency to become an All-NBA or All-Star player, but he is one of the premier 16-game players in the NBA right now.
This championship will cement his legacy as one of the most notable point guards of this era as he completes an incredibly heartwarming comeback story. From having one of the worst injuries a basketball player could have with an ACL tear and then coming back to win the title in his first season back, that is legendary stuff.
