The Boston Celtics fell to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, and there’s no doubt that this was a disappointing outcome for a team that wanted to win a championship this season.
One of the reasons that the Celtics lost to the Heat was the performance of Jaylen Brown throughout the series. Brown only averaged 19.0 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 3.4 APG for the Celtics while shooting 41.8% from the field and 16.3% from 3PT range. Heat forward Caleb Martin revealed that the team’s game plan for Brown was to continuously force him to his left hand.
“That’s always the game plan.”👀

Ultimately, the game plan was clearly a success, as Brown had one of his worst series performances as a Boston Celtic. However, it is quite possible that Jaylen Brown will come back even better after the result of this series, as he will likely work on his left-hand dribbling this offseason.
In the playoffs overall, Jaylen Brown averaged 22.7 PPG, 5.6 RPG, and 3.4 APG for the Boston Celtics. It is unfair to let one series be a referendum on his playoff run overall, and there’s a good chance the best is yet to come for him.
Jaylen Brown Took Accountability For The Boston Celtics’ Loss In Game 7
There is no doubting Jaylen Brown’s leadership as a member of the Boston Celtics, and the best leaders take accountability when they perform poorly. Jaylen Brown did just that, noting that he “failed” because he didn’t get the win.
“I expected to win today and move on. That’s what my focus was on. That’s what my focus has been on. We failed. I failed. And it’s hard to think about anything else right now, to be honest. I’m going to cross that bridge when we get there.”
Though a lot of people are lower on Jaylen Brown as a result of his performance against the Miami Heat, it is clear that he is still an elite player. He made an All-NBA team this year and will be eligible for a supermax contract at the end of the season. Jayson Tatum has already stated that he wants his co-star back.
It will be interesting to see what the Celtics do in regard to Jaylen Brown’s future. Their best option is clearly to keep him, as stars who help the team make the Finals aren’t easy to find.
