And so what I’ve done is, over the course of my adult life, as I’ve learned more and more and more about what it takes to thrive. Not just survive, but to thrive in corporate America, I’ve learned some of the dos and don’ts. Because one of the things that I’ve detested for years, and I’ll confess to you, not so much of my adult life, but when I was younger, and we always heard about, ‘Oh my goodness, you know what, the lord will bless you, and there’s a better place after you’re here on this Earth.’
“Of course, I believe that’s true. I’m a God-fearing individual, I’m a Christian man. I believe in a higher power. I believe in the Lord. That’s not what I’m saying here. What I’m saying to you is this: While I’m here at some point in my life, I got sick and tired of folks telling me that a better place was awaiting me. While I was here on Earth, watching other people thrive. And I said, ‘This rat race, this game, that exists in corporate America, I’m go figure it out. I’m going to play by the rules, and I’ma beat him anyway.'”
