Jamal Murray has made quite the impact in his first playoff appearance since he tore his ACL in 2021. Murray missed the playoffs with the Nuggets for two seasons in a row but has returned to the form we saw from him in the 2020 NBA Playoffs. Michael Malone revealed the toll Murray’s injury took on him when it first happened.
“I remember being in the bus with him going to the airport after he did the injury at Golden State, the next day and he had tears in his eyes, and that was the message. ‘Hey man, you’re gonna come back from this. And not only are you going to come back, you’re going to be better.”
“And that moment, it’s really hard to believe that. His first thought was ‘Man, are you guys going to trade me?… I’m damaged goods are you going to trade me now? I hugged him and said, ‘Hell no, you’re ours. We love you, we’re going to help you get back, and you’re going to be a better player for it.”

Jamal Murray, prior to his injury had won over a lot of people after his incredible performance in the NBA bubble, playing a big part in the Nuggets reaching the Western Conference Finals. But his concern wasn’t for no reason, as a lot of players have struggled to come back from an injury like the ACL tear he suffered.
Playoff Jamal Murray Is Back
But he need not have worried, as Murray has been sensational during this playoff run as well. He wowed NBA fans after scoring 30 points in the first half of Game 3 against the Los Angeles Lakers and helped the Denver Nuggets take a 3-0 lead over them and get them one game closer to the franchise’s first NBA Finals in history.
Could Murray lead Denver to an NBA championship? He and Nikola Jokic are one of the best duos in the NBA and have shown that they can keep up with the best teams in the league. But it will take at least five more games of excellent play from both stars to make that happen.
