Bam Adebayo weighed in on Jimmy Butler’s fiery run this postseason, explaining why he would pick altercations with the opponents on purpose.

“I feel like he starts [altercations],” said Bam Adebayo, via Sports Illustrated. “so it can get him more in the competition.” The center’s thoughts stem from Butler’s recent altercation with Grant Williams.

Williams got chirpy with Butler after he nailed a three to put his team up by nine. However, the latter retaliated with his own choice of words after he got an and-1 and then went on to score nine more points after.

In the end, Butler’s pyrotechnics at the clutch saw the Heat go 2-0 with a 111-105 win. He had 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists to show for it, and all it took was a spark from the Celtics to fire up the forward.

Jimmy Butler Agrees With Bam Adebayo’s Theory Of Stirring Up His Opponents

Jimmy Butler agreed with Adebayo’s theory of why he would rub his opponents and get in their faces. “It makes me key in a lot more,” Butler told. “It pushes that will that I have to win a lot more.”

He also added: “I do respect him,” Butler said. “I just don’t know if I’m the best person to talk to.” Also sharing his thoughts on Butler’s on-field dominance fueled by trash talk and swagger was head coach Erik Spoelstra. “I love that gnarly version of Jimmy,” he said.

Both teams will now square off at Miami for Game 3. For now, the Heat have been purely dominant against the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round, and the New York Knicks in the second. And after a 2-0 lead against the formidable Celtics in the ECF, they will be fancying their chances of getting past Boston, and they will have that confidence as long as Jimmy Buckets continues to do what he’s doing.
