Nikola Jokic is considered one of the smartest players in the NBA today. Usually, players who read the game as well as Jokic can, would translate that into a coaching career. But the Serbian sensation isn’t interested in that.

Nikola Jokic spoke to the press after Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. Responding to head coach Michael Malone calling him ‘Coach Jokic’ because of how he called plays, Jokic said, “I don’t want to be a coach. That’s the worst job on the planet for sure.”

Jokic was probably responding in jest, as he understands his role on the team. Jokic is the leader of the Nuggets and the smartest player on the team. He is trusted to coordinate the offense and get the rest of his teammates involved in the game on a nightly basis. And Jokic has done so to great success across his career, even winning 2 NBA MVP awards off the back of his role as a playmaker.

Jokic To Lead The Nuggets To NBA Championship

Under Jokic’s leadership, the Nuggets have taken a 3-0 lead over the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. They are now one game away from going to the NBA Finals for the first time in the history of their franchise. If Jokic continues to play the way he has in the playoffs, the Nuggets will be confident in their chances to win it all this year.

Nikola Jokic is currently averaging a triple-double in the playoffs, with 29.9 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 10.1 assists. His level of play has also elevated his teammates like Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. It is safe to say that Jokic is the key to the Nuggets and any success they achieve from here on out.
