Dwyane Wade has plans of taking the Utah Jazz “to another level” and by the looks of it, he’s already scored his first win as the franchise’s minority stake owner.

Per a Yahoo! Sports report, the team’s valuation has rocketed by 28.5%, increasing from $1.75 billion to a whopping $2.25 billion ever since he landed a role as an investor in 2021.

On this day in 2021, Dwyane Wade bought an ownership stake in the Utah Jazz.

He said, "If people are doubting how far you can go, go so far that you can’t hear them anymore! Second act activated."

“This goes way beyond the dream I had to just play basketball in the NBA,” Wade had told ESPN at the time. “I’ve seen Shaq do it in Sacramento. I’ve seen Grant Hill do it in Atlanta. I’ve seen Jordan do it in Charlotte. If this partnership is going to be anything like my relationship with Ryan, there are going to be a lot of things that I’ll want to be involved in. …”

“I am always looking for new opportunities to grow and challenge myself,” the former NBA champion had told ABC 10News.  Now, it appears that he’s a step there already. Maybe one of his plans also included making Jazz a champion unit.

The Utah Jazz May Have Failed To Make The Playoffs This Season, But The Team Has Shown Potential

Losing Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert may have been a blow to the Jazz, but they were still led by a young unit comprising Lauri Markkanen, Walker Kessler, and Jordan Clarkson. They have the pieces and perhaps this might be the offseason where Wade might push to get some big names in the mix to elevate Utah back to its glory days.

The Jazz failed to make the playoffs this time around, finishing 12th in the West, and while they were one of the teams expected to tank to prep for the draft lottery, they did put up quite the fight.

While they may be out of action, there’s no doubt that Wade will now have his sights on his former team in the postseason. The Miami Heat secured the final playoff berth in the East, pipping the Chicago Bulls and showing that they meant business by going 1-0 against the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs. Wade is still a happy man, by the looks of it.
