Ja Morant made his return from suspension in a game against the Houston Rockets, contributing 17 points off the bench.

Shooting guard Desmond Bane has electric on-court chemistry with Ja, with some even saying they’re one of the best backcourts in the NBA. Bane trusts Morant to deal with his situation and come back even stronger.

“He’s 23 years old, but he’s kind of an older soul. You see his dad and his mom — good backbones — and people that are in his corner and really [have] his back. So, I think that he’s equipped to handle all of this. He’s got to know that it’s not all on him. He’s got all of us to lean on: players, coaches, the whole organization has got his back. I hope the whole city of Memphis does, too.” (h/t NBA.com)

Morant is averaging 26.9 points, 8.1 assists, and 5.9 rebounds this season and is hoping to be the leader of the squad during their playoff run this season. Bane is averaging 21.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists on 40.1% from 3 as one of their primary scoring options.

Can The Grizzlies Win The West?

Given the highly competitive nature of the Western Conference this season, with most teams struggling to stay over .500 consistently, the Grizzlies have been the second-best team for most of the season. While the Sacramento Kings have pushed the Grizzlies, Memphis has held onto their No. 2 seed and has been competitive even with Morant out.

Their squad has depth in all the right places. Morant is a superstar-level point guard while Bane is one of the best shooters in the league. Jaren Jackson Jr. may win DPOY this season, while Dillon Brooks serves as their defensive enforcer on the perimeter. This is a solid team but may sorely miss Steven Adams if the center can’t return in time.

They have the tools to win, it’s all about maintaining harmony in the locker room and executing on the court, something we know the franchise can do.
