Michael Jordan’s love for gambling isn’t news. The Chicago Bulls legend never missed an opportunity to place bets with his teammates — and one of them who always ponied up was Scottie Pippen.

Per ESPN’s Amin Elhassan, Jordan found out one day that the animated Bulls races played on the jumbotron were prerecorded, and it was information that Pippen was oblivious to. He would ask the Bulls operations personnel about which colored Bull would win, and later trick Pippen into a bet costing him $100 dollars per race.

Elhassan added that Jordan pulled the trick for the entire season and his reliable teammate ended up losing moolah every home game. It’s surprising that Pippen never came to know about it, or maybe he did, but the good-natured soul that he was, he perhaps just let MJ get away with the stunt. The money though is a small factor when compared to the six NBA championships the dynamic duo won together.

Michael Jordan Called Scottie Pippen ‘The Ultimate Team Player’

Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen’s relationship may not be what it once was, and may have deteriorated over the years, but the two still share a mutual respect for each other after dominating the court in the 90s.

Pippen has always been vocal about Jordan’s legacy as the GOAT when asked about it. Even Dennis Rodman, the third star most remembered on the Bulls squad, shared the same belief. And on his part, MJ has always had his teammate’s back.

Per SLAM Online, he was once asked who he would pay to see play if he only had $5, and the response was instantaneous.

“I would pay to see Scottie Pippen play,” Jordan said. “I think he is the ultimate team player. A guy that can score, pass, rebound, and play defense. I also think he’s great to have in the locker room. We have been closed this year and I have really enjoyed that.”

Hopefully, the two legends will someday bury the hatchet. They were two of the most prolific players in the 90s and maybe when they hug it out, there may be more riveting tales from the vault that would see the light.
