This year’s free agent class features many big-name players, including Kyrie Irving, Draymond Green, and James Harden among others. But no matter how things play out over these next few days, all eyes are on the horizon and what comes next.

For most teams, saving up for the 2024 offseason has become a legitimate strategy given the potential pool of players who may become available, including potentially Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jayson Tatum. In fact, according to what one NBA scout told league insider Landon Buford, the period is comparable to the 2010 offseason that saw the creation of the Miami Heat big three with LeBron, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.

“Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jayson Tatum will have the NBA Summer on fire next year stay tuned, per NBA Scout on condition of anonymity,” he wrote in a Tweet. “Just like Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh did during the summer of 2010.’”

Of course, the satiation isn’t exactly similar to what we saw back in 2010. Back then, LeBron and Bosh were both free agents, but that’s not the case for Tatum and Giannis. And while both are expected to stay with their respective teams, they will be eligible for extensions this summer and it will be interesting to see what they decide to do.

In the meantime, we can only speculate what might happen, but there could be a world where Tatum or Giannis asks out and it would shake the entire NBA community.

2024 Could Be A Massive Year Of Change For The NBA

The new CBA has been finalized, and it’s going to limit how a team can build their roster around one or two stars. With a tight spending limit, it’s going to be harder and harder for superteams to exist and next summer could be the last chance for some organizations to pull off their dream scenario.

“[Giannis] already has a championship, he doesn’t owe Milwaukee anything, he’s a global brand, and if he decides to leave Milwaukee the three teams that he could consider in no particular order, the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Golden State Warriors,” said a source on a possible future scenario in the NBA.

Of course, this could all just be wishful thinking. As of right now, it’s impossible to predict where the elites will be playing in a few years, but in a league where anything can happen, fans should know not to rule out any scenario.

Either way, if you thought this offseason has been crazy, you’ll be in for a surprise when next year rolls around.
