The 2023 All-Star Game received a lot of criticism from NBA fans and analysts after Team LeBron and Team Giannis put up a poor show, barely trying to defend and making things hard for their rivals.

In a very boring game that at some point became a 3-point contest, a one-on-one duel between Boston Celtics teammates Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, Team Giannis beat Team LeBron to end the King’s unbeaten run in the All-Star Game. After the game was over, many people criticized it, including Brown and Michael Malone, who had some harsh words to say about it.

The NBA has always tried to make the All-Star Game more attractive for fans, and this was somehow achieved when the East vs. West format was changed for the current one, where the two most-voted players draft their teams.

In the wake of this horrible game, Basketball Forever proposed an idea to try to make this game more interesting, relying on players’ pride to defend their colors or defeat the biggest stars in the US.

How to fix the NBA All-Star Game:

Make it USA vs Team World.

It’s hard to not even try with “USA” on your chest. And Team World will always want to beat USA.

This is definitely an interesting idea, and many fans reacted to it, with some agreeing with it, but others calling for the old East vs. West format.

Nah east vs west winners get home court advantage in finals

How about players just compete? Why is that so much to ask?

USA team will have so much more depth though

No bro just do east vs west again

honestly they only need to start trying like they would acc do in a real game

or just bring back east vs west

East vs west would be cool again too but I like this; major Americans not gon like this Cuzz they know luka n Giannis will sauce em up every year

Just go back to east vs west!!

East Vs West

You need 12 guys for that, and I don’t think there are 12 foreign All-Stars in the league rn

World Reserves: Gobert, Sabonis, Wiggins, Siakam, Vucevic, Shroeder, Markkanen, Hield, Murray and Porzingis.

Team USA > Team World

Put it back to east vs west winner gets home money and loser gets nothing and winner gets home court in finals

East vs West. Winner gets home court advantage for the Finals.

The thing here is that the East vs. West format eventually brought fans boring games, and seeing the number of superstars that played in the West now, this could be a lopsided game too.

2023 All-Star Game Was One Of The Least Watched Events In NBA History

The NBA has a big issue on its hands right now, as the 2023 All-Star Game recorded low ratings this year. The big match saw a decrease of 29% from last season, while viewership was down 27%. This is a very concerning situation for the NBA, as this year’s game was the least-watched All-Star game ever.

They need to find a solution to this, or fans will keep losing interest in the game. We already saw what people thought of the Slam Dunk contest until Mac McClung ‘saved’ it with his incredible dunks on Saturday.

Not even the motivation of paying homage to Kobe Bryant is moving these players, and they need to put up a better show for those who voted for them to be on the big stage.
