NBA fans had their two cents on reports of trouble brewing between Los Angeles Lakers superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The take came on the back of the comments made by Colin Cowherd on his podcast where the analyst hinted at souring bonds between the two superstars, especially after Davis’ return from injury.

While some fans believed that the report was pretty much a rumor and was a baseless statement by Cowherd, some felt the whole discussion was balderdash and that the Lakers were keen on putting their season on track.

“I talked to an NBA source who I’ve known for a long time, he said the Dallas Mavericks and Anthony Davis, keep your eye on it…Anthony Davis is pouting, LeBron’s holding him accountable, LeBron’s not happy with him.” –@ColinCowherd

So we just a disgruntled superstar destination know…cool lol https://t.co/FC61XKiJgh

Cowherd also added that a trade to the Mavericks could be in store for Davis in the offseason.

NBA Analyst Believes The Lakers Must Trade Anthony Davis For Kyrie Irving

Speaking to Cowherd on the same podcast was NBA analyst Jason Timpf who proposed the idea of trading an out-of-form Davis for Kyrie Irving, one of the Lakers’ targets throughout the deadline.

Timpf likened the Irving-James reunion to the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers team that was heavy on offense and believed the results would be good for the Lakers.

“If AD cannot return to form, you start to look at potentially him being the vehicle for the Kyrie Irving trade. Maybe you get a Josh Green at Dallas as well, maybe you get one other first-round pick and Jared Vanderbilt is such a good work-hard forward for them. If they can get one other center, you start looking at them as a more offensively focused team behind Kyrie and LeBron, and LeBron when he’s surrounded by really good ball-handlers and shooters, does devote more energy to the defensive end at the four, and he can be really impactful there.”

While there is no reaction from the players or the LA camp to these developments, only time will tell if there is indeed any base to these claims.

In the meantime, the Lakers will enjoy a much-needed break to recoup and gear up for a clash against the Golden State Warriors after the All-Star break.
