The Los Angeles Lakers managed an impressive win against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night, with the result feeling like the team is turning a corner. Their new trade additions played a big part in the win with LeBron James out, D’Angelo Russell and Jarred Vanderbilt, in particular, made some big contributions.
The Los Angeles Lakers‘ Big 3 experiment with Russell Westbrook failed miserably, and some of the stories around him show it simply wasn’t working for them at all. But adding D’Angelo Russell gives the Lakers another opportunity at having something like a Big 3, especially if DLo can get back to playing at an All-Star level.
Russell had 15 points against the Warriors in his first game back in Lakers colors, and Anthony Davis complemented that with 13 points and a stellar defensive performance. But while they managed to pull the win out against the Warriors, it seems that the Lakers’ stars already have their eye on the future as well. Because according to Anthony Davis, they were busy cooking up plans for the future at halftime.
LeBron James, Anthony Davis, And D’Angelo Russell Already Have Plans On How To Play As A Trio
By the end of his time with the Lakers, Russell Westbrook had been relegated to a bench role. D’Angelo Russell will be a starter on this team, though, sharing serious minutes with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. And despite being sidelined, LeBron James‘ desire to get involved with the new-look Lakers is already apparent, as Anthony Davis revealed when talking about the halftime discussion in the locker room.
Anthony Davis said he, D'Angelo Russell and LeBron James were drawing up plays on the whiteboard at halftime, envisioning what the basketball will look like when James is healthy against and they're playing as a trio.

“Anthony Davis said he, D’Angelo Russell and LeBron James were drawing up plays on the whiteboard at halftime, envisioning what the basketball will look like when James is healthy against and they’re playing as a trio.”
Offensively, this trio will be quite potent, all three can score at a high clip. But for everyone to get their touches, Darvin Ham will have to draw up some interesting plays. It seems that the players have the step on him on that front, though they’ve got plans of their own to execute.
As helpful as the trade will be to the roster, it will be even greater for the Lakers if it can unlock LeBron James and Anthony Davis’ highest levels once again. They are the lynchpins for this team and now have plenty of help to make noise in the postseason if they can get there. These are exciting times for Lakers fans once again.
