The NBA trade season is finally ramping up with a day left before the deadline. After the shocking 3-team trade that saw the Lakers acquire 3 rotational players for Russell Westbrook and a first-round pick, we have another move.

Josh Hart has been traded to the New York Knicks for Cam Reddish and a protected future first-round pick.

Hart was on the court for the Blazers before curiously leaving the floor and hugging all of his teammates before he did so.

It was evident that Hart was going to be traded and he will now look to help the Knicks push forward in the East, while the Blazers take a bet on Cam Reddish discovering the potential everyone has said he has had for years now.

Both the teams want to keep pushing for the playoffs this season, especially the Blazers as they are currently the 12th seed in the West and have seemingly taken a step back by trading on Hart’s proven production for a risky option like Reddish, who has barely played this season.

Will This Trade Be Worth It For Both Teams?

The Knicks reinforcing their wing by getting a player like Hart is interesting given the young players they’ve been trying out there. Quentin Grimes is bound to lose some minutes and Hart could also be in lineups when R.J. Barrett is not on the court.

Hart has averaged 9.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists this season. He will fit perfectly with Tom Thibodeau and it’ll be interesting to see how he is used in the current Knicks setup.

Reddish, on the other hand, will have to prove he can give production to the Blazers this season. Moving Hart away allows the Blazers to give more minutes to their first-round pick from this season Shaedon Sharpe. Maybe a youth movement is going to surround Damian Lillard in the coming years, with Reddish still having room to grow.
