The NBA may be a sport but it’s arguably among the most beautiful to watch. The close quarters in which the athletes compete and the ability to watch their smallest moves keep the imagination of a basketball fan always active.
This also gives the opportunity for photographers to click some incredibly iconic pictures.
Andrew Bernstein has been a sports photographer for over 40 years and has primarily worked in Los Angeles. Given the rich history of the NBA in LA, Bernstein has clicked his fair share of iconic photos that almost every NBA fan has seen.
It’s no surprise that Andrew Bernstein was the photographer that captured tonight’s historic photo.

LA was the home of Kobe Bryant and is currently the home of LeBron James. Even Michael Jordan won his first championship in LA in 1991. That’s a lot of history for one city to have witnessed, and Bernstein was there to capture incredible photos each time.
I mean truly, some of the most ICONIC images in the history of the NBA come from this man’s camera.
It’s just unreal, the legacy… the moments he’s captured in the way he has captured them 🐐 pic.twitter.com/EZ3tmM6IOg

Bernstein is inarguably one of the greatest NBA photographers ever. He is currently the longest-serving photographer in the NBA and was crucial to the establishment of NBA Photos in 1986. It’s been a truly incredible career and everyone hopes to see more iconic pictures from Bernstein’s lens. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018.
Some Of The Iconic Moments That Bernstein Photographed
The 7 images in the thread are all instantly memorable pictures and for good reason. Michael Jordan guarding Magic Johnson in the 1991 NBA Finals was seen as a changing of the guard, as MJ’s era truly began after he vanquished the ’80s legend that Magic was. He also captured MJ’s iconic dunk contest performance and Kobe in the 1998 All-Star game.
The most notable pictures have to be the one he clicked the other day of LeBron’s history-making fadeaway to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record and Jordan’s tearful celebration after winning the 1991 NBA Finals.
