For the second time this season, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics faced off in an overtime thriller, and just like in the first instance, the Celtics came out on top. What was different this time around, though, was that the game was a lot more controversial.
The Lakers had a chance to win it in regulation as they had the ball with 4 seconds remaining, with the game tied at 105. LeBron James drove to the basket for the potential game-winner but missed it as he was clearly fouled by Jayson Tatum, but the referees shockingly didn’t call it. James couldn’t believe it as he reacted in a manner that we haven’t seen before, and Patrick Beverley hilariously brought a camera onto the court to show the officials that they missed an obvious foul.

He was always going to be assessed with a technical foul for that, but you can’t blame the Lakers for being upset there. An official was standing right there, as we see in the clip, but he didn’t call the foul as the referees usually do tend to hold the whistle in late-game situations.
The Lakers Reacted To The Missed Call After The Game
The Celtics would go on to win 125-121 in overtime as they ended their 3-game losing run. That wasn’t the main story after the game, as you might imagine, and the Lakers expressed their frustrations with the officiating.
LeBron said his immediate reaction after the play is exactly what he feels about it, while head coach Darvin Ham expressed his amazement that a player of James’ stature couldn’t get that call. Anthony Davis, meanwhile, didn’t mince his words, as he said they got robbed because it was a blatant foul. We have seen the referees make terrible decisions all season, and this might have been the worst one of the lot. All the Lakers can do now is try to put this behind them and focus on their next game against the Brooklyn Nets.
