The Los Angeles Lakers just can’t seem to catch a break this season. They are playing a whole lot better now as compared to the start of the campaign but have, at numerous points, found themselves at the receiving end of some questionable calls from the referees.

There was that game against the Philadelphia 76ers where Russell Westbrook had his hand held by Joel Embiid, which meant he wasn’t able to get off a shot with time winding down. While that play was still disputed, there is no doubt that the Lakers got robbed against the Boston Celtics on Saturday night. LeBron James went up for the game-winner at the rim with time expiring, only for Jayson Tatum to clearly foul him, but the referees didn’t call it. James was furious after the play, and after the game, he reacted to the missed call.

“You saw my reaction”

“It’s challenging, I don’t get it. I am attacking the paint just as much as any other guy in the league that’s shooting double-digit free throws a night. I don’t get it honestly.”

LeBron doesn’t even rank in the top 15 when it comes to free throws attempted per game, which is crazy, considering how much he does drive to the basket. It must be getting on his nerves that he isn’t getting the calls, especially when it is as obvious as it was here. Head coach Darvin Ham also expressed his frustration at LeBron not getting that call.

Whether we like it or not, the top players usually get the calls, but LeBron, for whatever reason, doesn’t seem to be getting them. He even said previously that the referees have been telling him for the past couple of years that they have been missing calls on him.

Anthony Davis Ripped The Refs

While James and Ham were somewhat measured in their response, Anthony Davis did not hold back on the referees. Davis, who had 16 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, unloaded on them as he said that the Lakers got cheated.

“It’s bulls*** at the end of the day, it’s unacceptable… We got cheated tonight, it’s a blatant foul.”

The L2M report for this game will probably say that the referees missed that call, but it doesn’t do anything for the Lakers. They are not in a position right now where they can afford to have these kinds of losses, and frustration levels must be at an all-time high.
