More often than not, NBA fans tend to gravitate toward the smaller guards. They can relate a lot more to a Stephen Curry who is 6’2 than LeBron James who is 6’9 and they quickly become fan favorites more often than not.
That hasn’t quite been the case for Trae Young, who has instead taken over the role of villain, especially in New York. Trae got on the nerves of Knicks fans when he beat them in the 2021 playoffs and he has fully embraced the role of a villain since then. Not everyone is sure he should go with this approach, however, as Draymond Green, who recently sat down for an interview with Taylor Rooks, said Trae shouldn’t try to be a villain.

“I’m a big fan of Trae Young. He’s talented as hell, underdog, small, all of that. But because of his stature, you’re going to want to like him before you want to hate him. And I personally think Trae has in his mind he’s taken on this villain role. He’s good enough to take it on, and still play well and still be Trae Young and still be an All-Star and be fine.”
“But I personally think it’s the wrong approach. Because being a villain ain’t fun. You only get so much… out of shutting someone up. And so I think for a guy like Trae, ‘nah man, go the opposite way.'”
Young then responded to Green, stating that he disagrees with Draymond’s comments on what he’s thinking internally.
“Love hearing Dray… but can respectfully disagree on his thought on how ‘I think’ about my situation someday people will hear my whole side & how ‘I THINK’ about everything. Great listen tho”
Trae hasn’t been a happy camper for multiple reasons this season and he probably doesn’t want anyone else talking about what he is thinking. There’s been plenty of chatter regarding his conduct and his future, which isn’t going to die down anytime soon.
Chris Haynes Offered An Update On A Potential Trae Young Trade Request
The 2022-23 NBA season has been a disappointing one for the Atlanta Hawks. They made a big splash by acquiring Dejounte Murray in the offseason but are just 21-22 on the season. It has led to some tension behind the scenes and rumors started to circulate that Trae could request a trade after the season.
NBA insider Chris Haynes once again spoke on the situation recently, as he stated that it feels like the Hawks are reaching a boiling point and that something is going to have to break. He ultimately added, however, that everything ultimately comes down to how the season ends for the franchise.
