Warriors Legend Rick Barry On NBA Referees: “Stop The Traveling, Stop Carrying The Ball, Stop The Moving Screens. The Players Are Getting Away With Murder…”

Barry's comments come at an appropriate time, especially after the last few games in the league has seen costly errors from the referees.

Golden State Warriors legend Rick Barry slammed the referees for their poor decisions, while also adding for good measure that their erroneous calls would cost the game.

Barry’s comments come at an appropriate time, especially after the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks was riddled with controversial calls.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of an NBRPA meet, the Warriors star minced no words on the refereeing mistakes.

“Call the damn game according to the rulebook, because players will adjust. Stop the traveling, stop the carrying the ball, stop the moving screens. The players are getting away with murder, and I blame the officials.”

This season has had its share of officiating errors, much to the chagrin of the teams and the fans.

Mark Cuban Lashes Out At Referees For Their Lack Of Foul Calls

Barry’s sentiments were echoed after Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban took to Twitter to express his disappointment after the referees failed to make timely foul calls against Luka Doncic.

He wasn’t happy despite Dallas winning the double OT contest 119-115 and didn’t pull his punches when he took on the referees.

Stan van gundy is absolutely right. Worst officiated game. Luka gets no respect. Unreal.

Stan van gundy is absolutely right. Worst officiated game. Luka gets no respect. Unreal.

Some of these mistakes are taken pretty seriously by players and fan bases, who have been vocal about their opinions. A recently emerged stat suggested that the Warriors fans led the charge about complaining about the refs the most.

It goes without saying that a game with poor decision-making by the officials serves as a dampener. Over the seasons, the calls for consistency in officiating have increased. This season has seen the likes of the Lakers and the Sacramento Kings find themselves in the middle of some bad calls, and that had players taking shots at the league’s referees.

The hope is that the league perhaps provides the referees an idea of how their decisions could make or break the season for all teams and ask them to be more clinical in their final say.
