Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest basketball players of all time but his influence went far and wide beyond the sport. Kobe was an inspirational figure to so many people across the globe and he will continue to be that moving forward despite his tragic passing in 2020.

On the court, Bryant won 5 championships, an MVP award, and was an 18-time All-Star in what was a fabulous career. He spent the entirety of it with the Los Angeles Lakers, but there was another team that Kobe was deeply connected to, the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL.

The Philadelphia Eagles Played A Kobe Bryant Video To Motivate Their Players And They Won The Game 24-8

Bryant, a Philadelphia native, was a lifelong Eagles fan and their current head coach Nick Sirianni decided to motivate his players using a Kobe video that recently went viral. It was the clip from the Netflix documentary on the Redeem Team where Bryant talks about going at his then-teammate Pau Gasol. The message was to be the ultimate competitor every day and his team sure competed at a high level as they beat the Washington Commanders 24-8. If those numbers weren’t already familiar to you, then those are the numbers Kobe wore in the NBA and a fan took notice of it.

It is a bit crazy as it is just the second time in NFL history that a game ended with that exact score and it just so happened to take place after Sirianni showed his players that clip. The Eagles are now 3-0 and lead the standings in the NFC which is a major surprise. Kobe would have been very excited to see them do so well as he was when they won the Super Bowl in 2018.

Going back to that clip from the documentary, that triumph in the 2008 Olympics was probably right up there for Kobe among his greatest accomplishments. The U.S. was coming off two disappointing tournaments leading into those Olympics, having only managed to win the Bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics and the 2006 FIBA World Championship but Kobe made sure there wasn’t going to be another disappointment. He was the driving force behind that team as he led them to the gold and they haven’t relinquished their spot at the top since then.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
