LeBron James has for a long time now, stated that his goal is to play with his son Bronny James in the NBA. It is almost unthinkable in professional sports for a father-son duo to share the court, but such is LeBron’s longevity, that he has made it a distinct possibility at this point.

He is going strong entering his 20th season in the NBA in 2022-23 and recently signed a 2-year extension with the Lakers. He has a player option for the 2024-25 season, which lines up perfectly with the 2024 NBA Draft, which is the earliest Bronny can enter the league.
LeBron James Jokes That Bronny James Would Get A Whooping If He Steals A Highlight From Him
With a clear pathway set for them to play together in 2024, James is certainly looking forward to what would be a surreal experience. Playing with your son can have some drawbacks, though, like he could steal a highlight from you and LeBron joked that Bronny would get a whooping if he did that.
LeBron if Bronny takes away a highlight from him like Ken Griffey Jr. did to his father:
“Bronny do that to me, he getting a whooping when we get home!”

Ken Griffey Sr. and his son Ken Griffey Jr., of course, played together on the Seattle Mariners from 1990 to 1991 in the MLB. It is what LeBron and Bronny are looking to replicate but LeBron wouldn’t want his son copying the younger Griffey who once stole a catch from his father during a game!
Griffey Sr. wasn’t too pleased by his son’s actions and we definitely don’t blame him for that! It would be hilarious if we see something like this between LeBron and Bronny if they do team up and there is a good chance that the latter will try it if he sees an opportunity.
While the Griffeys managed to do that in the MLB, no father-son duo has ever played together in the NBA. LeBron is carefully planning for it too, as he recently stated that he has his eyes on teams that have first-round picks from 2024 to 2027, as he looks to play not only with Bronny, but also his younger son Bryce James. Playing with Bryce just might not be possible, however, as LeBron would be in his mid-40s by the time he is eligible to enter the league, but if there is one thing that the King has shown us over the last 2 decades or so, is that you shouldn’t doubt the man!
