Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the world, capable of creating his own shot against every single defender in the league and being a true three-level scorer. He had a productive season with the Brooklyn Nets, averaging 29.9 PPG, 7.4 RPG, and 6.4 APG.

This summer, there was a lot of media attention centered on Kevin Durant due to his trade request from the Brooklyn Nets. However, he has since agreed to stay with the Nets after a conversation with Joe Tsai, Sean Marks, and Steve Nash.

Recently, Adrian Wojnarowski compared the Kevin Durant trade saga to Kobe Bryant’s trade request in 2007, pointing out that both players ended up “returning to the franchise” that they were currently with.

In the end, Kevin Durant and the Nets played out in a similar way to Kobe Bryant and the Lakers in 2007: A tumultuous summer after a trade request, talks with teams, no deal and ultimately a decision to return to the franchise.

In the end, Kevin Durant and the Nets played out in a similar way to Kobe Bryant and the Lakers in 2007: A tumultuous summer after a trade request, talks with teams, no deal and ultimately a decision to return to the franchise.

There’s no doubt that Adrian Wojnarowski is right in suggesting that there are some parallels between the two players’ situations. Both players initially wanted a move away due to lack of success with the team but then gave the franchise a chance to make things right.

It remains to be seen how well the Brooklyn Nets will do next season. They have Kevin Durant surrounded by two All-Star level players in Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving, as well as solid role players like T. J. Warren and Seth Curry. They have a solid squad if they all manage to stay healthy, and it is clear that the team could potentially get far in the playoffs if they manage to gel and develop chemistry.

Hopefully, we see Kevin Durant find success with the Brooklyn Nets in the future. He is still a superstar that can be the No. 1 option on a championship-level team, and he will have a chance to prove it next season.
