Myles Turner is one of the best rim protectors in the league, and there’s no doubt that his defensive ability is elite. He has led the league in blocks twice during his career. Turner has frequently been featured in trade rumors over the last few years, though thus far he has remained with the Indiana Pacers.
When speaking to Mark Spears of Andscape, Myles Turner has claimed that he’s “finally numb” to all the trade rumors after taking a trip to Africa. There’s no doubt that being consistently involved in trade rumors can often have an effect on a player mentally, and it’s good to see that Myles Turner was able to unplug for a little bit.
I wanted to put all that behind me. Get off social media for a bit. Turn my phone off and not talk to anybody in the Western world. I was able just to be completely in the present and completely in the moment. And that was the most rewarding part for me.
This is my fifth offseason with trade rumors going on. ‘He’s going to land here; he’s going to do this. He going to do that.’ I am finally numb to it, in a sense. So that’s another thing that I was proud of myself for as well. I was able to immerse myself in the experience of Africa as opposed to my own personal life or my own selfish reasons.
Currently, Myles Turner is on an expiring contract, and there’s a solid possibility that he does end up getting moved. He has most notably been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers, though the trade that would move him to the Lakers is viewed as “currently dead”.
Hopefully, we see Myles Turner get some clarification on his situation from the Indiana Pacers soon. He has spent the entirety of his career thus far in Indiana, and perhaps that will continue into the future.
