The Golden State Warriors right now are enjoying a well-deserved break after winning the 2022 NBA championship. Coming into the season, many shrugged off the Warriors as a contender for the title. But in classic Dubs fashion, the team absolutely decimated their opposition in the playoffs.

It was a mix of many things that led the Warriors across the finish line. With a blend of young players like Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole alongside experienced veterans like Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, the Warriors had a very balanced and talented team.

But the definite X-Factor in all of their battles in the postseason was Stephen Curry. Coming off of a season where he almost led the Warriors to the playoffs, Curry initially continued his sublime form in the 2021-22 season. But doubts surrounding the guard’s talents crept up as soon as he entered a rough patch where the three-balls were nothing but misses.

While many doubted Steph’s abilities, the 34-year-old truly showed why he was one of the best players in the game. Single-handedly leading the charge for the Warriors in multiple games, Curry was arguably the best player in the playoffs and deservedly won his first NBA Finals trophy.

NBA players drop off with age, and Steph finds himself in an age where many players often end up becoming role players. But despite his age, Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob has full faith in his superstar and warned the league that Curry would continue his path of domination next season as well.

“Sorry to say to the rest of the league, I don’t see him getting any worse.”

Curry certainly has shown that he is still at the top of his game, and with a Finals MVP trophy under his belt, No. 30 will be ready to build on his legacy. He hasn’t become injury prone as well, and given his play style, Curry can dominate the game with his elite shooting.

With a team which complements him, Steph is well-poised to repeat next season. It will be interesting to see whether teams can really contain the superstar next season.
