Gilbert Arenas Suggests Blockbuster Trade Between The Lakers And Nets: “I Can Straight Up Trade Kyrie For Russ, Kevin Durant For Anthony Davis.”

The Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets have been talked about in the same breath for a large part of this offseason. With reports suggesting that Kyrie Irving could move to the Lakers in a deal involving Russell Westbrook, and Kyrie himself hinting at it, this is to be expected.

The speculation went to another level when GMs Rob Pelinka and Sean Marks were spotted chatting recently, and many Lakers fans would welcome a move that would reunite Kyrie with LeBron. However, another Nets superstar is looking to move in the offseason in Kevin Durant, and now Gilbert Arenas has spoken about the Lakers potentially trading for both.

(starts at 00:26 minutes)

“So, you know, the Nets and Lakers are not really in a rush. They’re probably still tryna figure out the rest of the roster. See who’s available to sign and throw into that trade, but right now the Lakers are the only team that’s suited to make the deal work. Because it’s less paperwork. I can straight up trade Kyrie for Russ. Kevin Durant for Anthony Davis.

“You know, it’s a fair trade for both sides. You can probably throw in a young player, but other than that you can straight up do two stars for two stars and both teams can probably feel like, ‘Okay we got something out of that’.”

It’s very unlikely that the Nets would be willing to trade Kevin Durant in what would essentially be a straight swap for Anthony Davis while taking the Russ contract in a straight trade for Kyrie is also quite unlikely.

Gilbert Arenas has been known to make some outlandish suggestions from time to time, and it’s safe to say that this is one of those. The haul that the Nets are hoping to get for a potential KD trade would not adequately be filled by this, and it’s likely that only Lakers fans would think that a trade like this is a good one.
