The New Orleans Pelicans have received bad news in recent hours, as one of their young players was arrested in his hometown. Devonte’ Graham, who landed in NOLA via trade with the Charlotte Hornets last year, has been arrested for driving while impaired.

The 27-year-old was detained in Raleigh, North Carolina, at 3 AM. After recording a very good 2021/22 NBA season, the Pelicans are getting ready to face another campaign with more challenges for them. It seems like the challenges started for their players, but those aren’t happening on the court.

Via WRAL:

A Raleigh native and NBA player was charged Thursday with driving while impaired.

Devonte’ Graham, point guard for the New Orleans Pelicans, graduated from Broughton High School in 2013. He was charged with DWI near the intersection of Peace Street and Capitol Boulevard early Thursday morning.

The arrest was made by the State Highway Patrol.

According to the arrest report, Graham currently lives in Kenner, La.

When Graham, now 27, played point guard for the Charlotte Hornets in 2020.

This is not the first time a Pelicans player has been in legal trouble. Jaxson Hayes made headlines last season after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and resisted getting arrested once the police arrived at his location.

Just a couple of days after their superstar Zion Williamson signed a huge contract extension, the Pelicans received bad news about Graham’s situation. Hopefully, this doesn’t get more serious, and Graham can learn his lesson and continue with his life. The Pelicans are expected to make some noise next season after getting Zion back.

They have a talented group of players that are hungry to win, and missing a piece of their roster would be terrible for them.
