Stephen Curry is the toast of the NBA once again. The Warriors superstar has put in some phenomenal displays in these Finals against this vaunted Boston Celtics defense and he has carried Golden State on his back so far. He is putting up ridiculous numbers on crazy efficiency up to this point by averaging 34.3 points on 50/49/85.7 shooting splits.

He near single-handedly dragged them to a win in Game 4 by scoring 43 points and is on his way to a well-deserved Finals MVP if they do go on to win the series. While Curry is getting showered with praise at the moment, he is well aware of the fact that sentiments can change very quickly. On the latest episode of the Bill Simmons podcast, Wosny Lambre recounted what NBA reporter Marcus Thompson said to him about a conversation he had with Curry.

starts at the 47:45 mark:

“We had Marcus on our show a couple of weeks ago and he was talking about a conversation he had with Steph and he said ‘I’m telling Steph like dude you’re a made man, everybody is giving it up to you, even LeBron is sucking up to you in public. You’re done. You did it. You are a made guy’ and Marcus said Steph’s response was ‘All it takes is one flop, and they’ll be right back on my ass'”

It is just the way things are right now really. People are very quick to elevate someone to a higher pedestal, only to tear it down instantly once there’s a setback. Curry has felt it just in these Finals itself after he was blasted for his no-show in the fourth quarter of Game 3, only for him to now be praised to the high heavens after that mesmerizing display in Game 4.

He knows that unless he balls out for the remainder of this series, people will be on him once again and that will be the case regardless of how he plays if they end up losing from here on out. For the Warriors to ensure that’s not the case, the rest of the team needs to step up and Klay Thompson said as much after the game.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
