Kendrick Lamar’s Weird Bond With The Warriors: Whenever The Rapper Releases An Album, Golden State Wins A Championship

Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest rappers of his generation. He has left an indelible impact on music with the projects he has released, and it seems that every album release improves on the one before that. His album release pattern has become a little weird with how it intersects with the Golden State Warriors recent championships.

When Kendrick dropped the iconic album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’, an album many laud for helping him break into the mainstream as a bonafide star, the Warriors broke through the mainstream and overcame LeBron James to become NBA Champions for the first time.

K-Dot didn’t release an album in 2016, the same year the Warriors lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He did release albums in 2017 (DAMN.) and 2018 (Black Panther Soundtrack), both years in which the Warriors won a title. Kendrick then went on a hiatus, coinciding with the Warriors’ years of injury. However, Lamar has dropped his latest album this year as the Warriors make it back to the NBA Finals.

Kendrick’s ‘Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers’ was released earlier this year, marking the end of a long period with no music being released by Lamar. The Warriors just ended their two years of disappointment by storming right back to the NBA Finals, where they await the winner of Boston-Miami. The Celtics are currently up 3-2 and will look to close the series out next game.

It seems the Warriors are playing the new Kendrick album every single year they have been in the playoffs and that has been some fantastic fuel to their fire. But there is no doubting that the Warriors are in this position because of their tireless work.

The roster looks steady and Steve Kerr has done a great job of integrating all the pieces on the team together. Hopefully, they can carry this weird coincidence with Kendrick albums forward and win the 2022 NBA Championship.
