After spending a tumultuous time with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Andrew Wiggins finally found his place in the world in San Francisco, joining the Golden State Warriors in 2019 and improving his game season after season.

The former No. 1 overall pick landed in a team with a bright future but not the best present and he worked on that, getting better and learning how to be an impactful player for when the Dubs picked up things and returned to their level.

The 2021/22 NBA season has been magical for Wiggins and his team. He became an All-Star for the first time, starting in the big game in Cleveland. Besides that, the Dubs secured the 3rd seed in the Western Conference and now are playing in the conference finals.

Wiggins is really committed to this team, even doing things that secured his presence on the court at the expense of other stuff going on in his life. Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle (via Essentially Sports) revealed that in order to play for the Dubs, Wiggins postponed his girlfriend’s labor. After his game was over, they carried out the procedure:

”This is a guy who, a couple of weeks ago, his girlfriend was going into labor. He had her delay inducing labor so that he can play a regular-season NBA game for the Warriors. Immediately after the game was over, he was like, ‘Yep, time to induce labor. I’ll be there.”

This would sound crazy to many, but not for Wiggins. He’s ready to do whatever it takes to win. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson have noticed this and praised the Canadian player for his commitment. Wiggins wants to win, and this season is a big opportunity to do so. The Dubs looked great against the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the WCF, but it’s still early to say if they’ll keep playing at this level for the rest of the series.

When you have players willing to do anything to win, it’s easier to reach the goal, and Andrew is one of them.
