Video: Draymond Green Was Dancing To “Whoop That Trick” While Warriors Were Getting Blown Out

Draymond Green is one of the best defensive players in the league, and there’s no doubt that he’s integral to the Golden State Warriors’ small-ball system. However, he has often been criticized for some of his actions on the court, and it seems as though he did something controversial once again.

During the recent Game 5 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, Draymond Green ended up dancing to “Whoop that Trick”, which is a song that the Memphis Grizzlies and their fans have basically adopted as an anthem.

It is quite possible that Draymond Green is simply confident in his team and their ability to close out in Game 6 to do something like this. There’s no doubt that Draymond Green generally enjoys playing against teams and fans that employ trash talk. Draymond Green revealed that he doesn’t respect “people who only engage the crowd when they’re winning”, which seems to be the reason he decided to dance in the middle of a blowout.

Draymond Green: "They not gonna Whoop That Trick alone. We’re gonna Whoop That Trick together. One thing I don’t respect is people who only engage the crowd when they’re winning. I call those people frontrunners. I appreciated the crowd tonight.”

“They not gonna Whoop That Trick alone. We’re gonna Whoop That Trick together. One thing I don’t respect is people who only engage the crowd when they’re winning. I call those people frontrunners. I appreciated the crowd tonight.”

Prior to this game, Draymond Green sent a message to the Memphis Grizzlies, pointing out that they are now playing a championship-level team, rather than the Minnesota Timberwolves. It is clear that the Memphis Grizzlies didn’t roll over even though they were playing an elite squad, and they are still a defensive team that will require the Warriors to be at their best to beat them.

“This isn’t the Minnesota Timberwolves. You’re no longer playing that team; this is championship level basketball.”

It remains to be seen if the Golden State Warriors will end up closing out this series. Game 6 will be in San Francisco, and they definitely have a chance of closing out the series at home.

As for the Memphis Grizzlies, their deficit against the Golden State Warriors seems less insurmountable. It is still hard to see them come back all the way from 3-1 down without Ja Morant, but there’s a small possibility that does end up happening.
