The Memphis Grizzlies have found a gem of a player in Ja Morant. The 22-year-old has already established himself as one of the best point guards in the league in just a short span of time.

Moreover, apart from improving individually, Morant has an amazing impact on the performance of his team. So much so that he has elevated the Grizzlies to a level that they finished with the second-best record in the Western Conference.

The cherry on the top is that the Grizzlies have qualified for the second round of the 2022 Playoffs. Grizzlies played phenomenally in the Round 1 series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Although the Grizzlies won the series, it took them six games to finish off the Timberwolves. Moreover, Morant and co. started it off in a bad manner as they lost the first game of the series.

Morant’s team lost the game, and he took it to his Instagram account to show his mentality after the game. He did so by posting a Michael Jordan clip from ESPN’s ‘The Last Dance’ documentary. Morant was ridiculed for doing that on his IG account and was advised to focus on the next game instead of posting such stories.

Now, in Round 2 of the playoffs, the Grizzlies have started the series in the same manner. They have lost the first game of the series at the hands of the Golden State Warriors. Fortunately, this time around Morant handled the situation with more maturity.

Even NBA analyst Skip Bayless praised Morant for his comments after the close defeat against the Warriors.

“I LOVE WHAT JA JUST SAID IN HIS POSTGAME INTERVIEW ABOUT HIS GAME-ENDING MISS: ‘I missed a layup I normally make.’ He owned it but did not dwell on it. Now, no more MJ ‘Last Dance’ posts. Just go about your business and win Game 2.”

This is a much better approach by the Grizzlies superstar. Additionally, considering the first game of the series was very close, the Grizzlies need just a little push to win the next game.

Although most fans have picked the Warriors to win the series, Morant and co. could upset and advance to the Western Conference Finals.
