The Utah Jazz have recently lost to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 3, and that is unfortunate for them, as they should have been able to capitalize on the fact that the Mavericks were missing superstar Luka Doncic. Many originally picked them to win the series after news of Doncic’s injury, but clearly, the series is still competitive.
During the game, the Utah Jazz were down by 17 points at halftime, which led to them getting booed by their own home fans. The Utah Jazz did end up making a late comeback, but it wasn’t enough to offset Jalen Brunson’s elite scoring night of 31 points.
The Utah Jazz have been a very disappointing team over the course of these last few seasons. Stephen A. Smith and JJ Redick have both torn into the Utah Jazz recently, claiming that any time the Jazz are expected to do something, “they let you down”.
“I can’t stand the Utah Jazz, they make me sick. I love the new owner and I love where their heart is. I love the fact my brother D-Wade is a part of that ownership, and I love me some Donovan Mitchell. He’s something special. I can’t stand anything else. I can’t stand this team because they always always wet the bed.
“Luka Doncic is out. You have good players on Dallas like Dorian Finney-Smith and Jalen Brunson, but Doncic and Tim Hardaway Jr. are out. It’s a playoff game and Brunson dropped 40? He’s a good player, but 41 points? This is what Utah does. Every time you expect something from them, they let you down.”
“Stevie Wonder can see that Rudy Gobert can’t cover anybody because they’ve got perimeter shooters. Why is he out there? Same problem last year when they were going against the Clippers. Styles make fights, get him off the floor. You’ve gotta go small, you can’t keep doing this.”
Hopefully, the Utah Jazz are able to turn things around. They still have a chance of winning the series, but they will have to be at their best to avoid going down 3-1, as it’s very difficult to come back from such a deficit.
There is no doubt that the Utah Jazz have underwhelmed a lot in a lot of past postseasons, and they have definitely been subpar in the 2022 playoffs. However, there’s always a chance that things will change, and hopefully, the Jazz are able to quickly improve and get out of the first rounds.
