The Dallas Mavericks have received the worst news ahead of the 2022 NBA playoffs. The Slovenian point guard suffered an injury against the San Antonio Spurs in the final game of the regular season, setting the alarms ahead of the postseason.
People were waiting for the tests to see how serious Doncic’s injury is, and the return doesn’t sound that promising. The young player won’t be making his return to the court soon, meaning the Mavericks will face the postseason without their biggest player.
Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports that Doncic has suffered a left calf strain, which will keep him sidelined indefinitely. This is the last thing the Mavs wanted to hear, especially after Doncic took them to the 4th seed of the Western Conference.
Dallas Mavericks say an MRI confirmed a left calf strain for Luka Dončić and there is no timetable for his return.

The Mavericks will face the Utah Jazz in the first round of the postseason. They hope to beat them without Luka, but that will be a hard job to carry out. Even with the Jazz’s reputation of being a regular-season beast, Dallas can’t sleep on this team at all in the postseason.
Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert will try to take advantage of this situation and take the Mavs out early. When Luka seemed to have a good opportunity to come out of the first round, this situation happens and there’s nothing he can do about it.
Hopefully, he can return before the series is over. Maybe, if the Mavericks beat the Jazz, he could make a comeback later, but that’s unlikely to happen right now.
