Giannis Antetokounmpo has been so successful over the last 3 to 4 seasons that his greatness has almost been taken for granted by the fans and media. The Greek Freak is elite on both sides of the court, putting up monster scoring performances while also being a perennial DPOY candidate. Winning the NBA championship and claiming the Finals MVP has solidified Giannis’ legacy even more but he is still underrated at times, even in the MVP race.

However, he is finishing the season extremely strong, outperforming Joel Embiid and James Harden in a win over the Philadelphia 76ers before dropping 44 on Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in a win over the Brooklyn Nets. He also became Milwaukee’s all-time scoring leader in the process, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s tally for the Bucks.

And his unbelievable performances have finally earned the sort of praise that he should have been getting for most of the season, with many coming out and proclaiming him to be the best player in the world. Paul Pierce recently added his voice to support Giannis, tweeting about the Greek Freak.

“The Greek is the MVP and Defence of player of the year speak on it Best player in the NBA.”

Nikola Jokic had become the favorite once more following Joel Embiid’s Sixers going through a bit of a rough patch but Giannis in his last 11 games is averaging 33.7 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, helping the Bucks make a charge for the 1st seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Greek Freak could easily win the scoring title, he’s almost tied for the lead with LeBron James, while he’s also one of the top 3 candidates for Defensive Player of The Year. While Jokic does have a worse cast, if Giannis can help his team clinch the 1st seed while winning DPOY and the scoring title, denying him the MVP might end up being quite unfair.
