Over the course of its history, the NBA has seen several sensational players play basketball at an elite level. But even among them, there are a few players that are cut from a different cloth and are considered to be the best of the best by not only fans but players as well.

Players like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, LeBron James, Kareem Adbul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, etc. are some of the regulars on these lists. After all, the aforementioned players have had an incredible impact on the NBA throughout their respective careers.

One might even say that these players deserve a spot on the Mount Rushmore of the NBA. Speaking of which, Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard recently appeared on a podcast with analyst Shannon Sharpe and the two discussed just that.

“NBA players, I’m gonna go with MJ, LeBron, Kobe, and I’m gonna say Magic.”

(starts at 1:01:10)

Lillard thought long and hard before giving out the names of the players that he believes deserve to be on the Mount Rushmore of the NBA. As a result, his list is pretty good.

While there are still those who might argue that Dame is wrong, everyone has a different opinion about it. NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith had a different answer to the same question. And if someone else is asked, they might have a different one too.

However, the common factor in most lists will be the inclusion of Michael Jordan and LeBron James. After all, MJ is considered the GOAT of the NBA by the fans. On the other hand, there are a significant number of fans that believe that LeBron has already dethroned MJ.

With that being said, let’s hope that fans get to hear more from Damian Lillard. The Blazers superstar has been sidelined for the entire season and during this time fans are getting to know Lillard better off the court.
