The MVP race is getting hotter by the day. We have three serious candidates in Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, but other players like Jayson Tatum, Luka Doncic and most recently, Devin Booker, could make some noise in the upcoming weeks.
All these players have had incredible seasons and they have a solid case to aspire to win the coveted award, but only one of them will have the trophy when the regular season finishes.
Many people think Joel Embiid will be the winner this year, and he received big support from his teammate James Harden, who confirmed that the big man has what it takes to win the prize after a couple of weeks playing alongside the Cameroonian.
“He deserves it, man,” Harden told ESPN. “I’ve only been here for a few weeks, but I already see his mindset. He wants to win. Some guys just want numbers, but he has both. He has the mentality of winning, and he scores the ball at a high level. I think he’s prepared himself, especially coming off last year, for this year to be one of his best years.”
“Most of the games he’s played this year, we’ve been fighting for the No. 1 seed,” Harden said of Embiid. “And he’s not only top 2, top 3 in scoring but he’s impactful to our team winning.”
The Embiid-Harden duo is working wonders for the Sixers, who currently rank 3rd in the East. They have proven to be a terrific duo, and even though they have suffered some painful losses, everybody in Philadelphia has high hopes for this tandem. Harden believes in Embiid and vice versa. As long as they stay healthy, the Sixers will have a chance to win it all, while the center gets the most important individual award in the league.
